Q&A WITH CLARENCE FRANK

Clarence Frank is an Adelaide based luxury leather brand that creates classy, high quality handbags and clutches. They have just launched their “Painted Edition” which is a playful take on the current customisation trend, which we are all obsessed with! I am in love with my large clutch with custom starry eyed design. I get to know a little more about Clarence Frank below.

When was Clarence Frank established and what is the vision behind the brand?

Clarence Frank was established in September 2015 with the vision to become a accessible luxury brand that offers timeless design. In 2016 the “Painted Edition” was released as Clarence Frank’s response and version to the growing customisation trend in the leather industry.

If you can describe your label in three words, what would they be?

Timeless, Classic, Quality.

I love your new collection of personalised hand painted clutches, what inspired this range?

I wanted to do something with the customisation trend, now that most leather goods brands offer embossing. I thought this could be a different way to offer customers the ability to customise the clutch anyway they want. It also gives me a chance to get more hands on and do the painting myself!

What goes behind the designing and making of your bags?

Each bag is designed with a person in mind. I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by so many amazing women who all have individual style so this helps as a starting point. Once we have the design and measurements we make a paper sample so that small changes can be made. Once this is approved we then send the specs off to our manufacturer and samples are made. The whole process can take up to two months per style. I also get to visit our manufacturers each year and see the amazing work and detail it takes to make a bag.

Where can your bags be purchased?

Clarence Frank is available online at www.clarencefrank.com or in The Style Affair at Glenside and Hahndorf in South Australia.
