The leaves are turning into vibrant, fiery reds and yellows and that morning chill is slowly creeping in, as Autumn announces it’s arrival. Despite not liking the cold, it’s one of my favourite seasons because it is just so beautiful and I love Autumn dressing. I love that you can layer just enough to stay warm while looking chic, but not too much that you start to feel like the Michelin Man.
One of my staples for layering is a key shirt. A simple cut that will work under different styles and with various necklines is always something to look for in shirting. I like to find a piece that still has a talking point or feature, such as a cute bow tie at the neckline, some ruffles or a dramatic sleeve.
SHOPBOP is one of my favourite places to find unique pieces and they stock some of my favourite brands, as well as some brands that I had never heard about before. I could spend hours browsing through their website (and by could I mean I have) and discovering new brands or getting creative with the outfits I could put together. I fell in love with this JOA shirt because of the simple cut with the button up at the back and gorgeous sleeve detail. I’ve teamed it with two different looks, all from SHOPBOP, but the outfit options are endless!
The first look is more relaxed and is very ‘blogger off duty’ cool. I teamed the shirt with some classic levi’s 501 skinny jeans. I love the high waist and vintage wash and that they are a slim leg, but still relaxed and more ‘mum style’. I practically live in sneakers, so these Converse sneakers were a no brainer. My new Gucci belt finishes the look and really is the hero of the outfit (warning: get ready to see it with every outfit from here on).
I’m feeling very Parisian in the second look. I layered the shirt under this Madewell Trench Dress and teamed it with some black boots and my YSL blogger bag to give it some edge. This dress is a great piece because it can be layered with anything underneath from T-shirts to jumpers.
So I hope you are all feeling inspired and as excited as I am to start layering up and embracing Autumn. I’ve linked all of my pieces in this write up, so happy shopping!
