MY JURLIQUE EXPERIENCE

Amongst the business of Rundle Mall lies a tranquil haven, the Jurlique Rundle Mall Flagship Store and Spa.

Jurlique was founded in the 1980s by husband and wife Dr Jürgen and Ulrike Klein, a biochemist and botanist, who believed that nature had the power to create, heal, nurture and soothe. They wanted to create a natural skin care range that combined the arts of alchemy, herbal medicine and homeopathy to reconnect people to nature.

They discovered the unspoiled Adelaide Hills in South Australia and established their organic and biodynamic farm to grow the ingredients for their skincare and many ingredients are still grown there today.

I was lucky enough to try some of the beautiful soothing products and experience an hour of pure bliss and pampering when I went in for the Classic Jurlique Signature Facial.

Walking into the store, it is clear that there is a strong design focus – a combination of beautiful natural textures like wood and stone with touches of luxury through elements of gold. The retail space has a calming aesthetic and somewhat minimal design with a large open plan space with light up wooden shelves along the walls that neatly display the products.

I was greeted by the sweet and bubbly Becky who poured me some fresh fruit water and introduced me to my lovely therapist Kat. Walking up the stairs to the second level treatment area, led me to a relaxing waiting area before my treatment. Jurlique’s mission to reconnect people with nature is thoughtfully tied in through details in the spa such as a captivating framed photograph of the Adelaide Hills and a statement marble coffee table (which I wished I could take home with me!).

The therapists maintain a very professional standard and Kat sat with me and ran through my paperwork to ensure that my overall health and wellbeing was thoroughly considered.

Kat led me to my treatment room and I felt instantly relaxed by the dimmed lighting and tranquil music. Before the treatment started, she assessed my skin to determine which products would be best for my skin. A little dryness and dullness was noted, so Kat decided to use the Hydration range to bring moisture and brightness into my skin.

Some of the products that she used included the Activating Water Essence, Rose Moisture Plus Daily Moisture Balancing Serum, Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask and Rosewater Balancing Mist – just to name a few.

I can’t really remember each step in the facial because I was feeling so relaxed! I just remember thinking how good each product felt on my skin and it was so nice to just relax and enjoy whatever treatment was coming next. I didn’t want the facial to end, but at the same time I felt like I had received a really thorough treatment and deep relaxation in that hour. I can honestly say that my skin felt almost brand new – it was so smooth and soft and I felt rejuvenated. I purchased the Moisture Plus Serum so that I could keep my skin feeling soft and moisturised from home and I’m looking forward to trying some of the other products too.

I would highly recommend treating yourself to a facial at the Jurlique flagship. Life can get very busy and stressful, so it is important to take time out to treat yourself and look after your skin. The Jurlique flagship is located at 17A Rundle Mall, Adelaide and you can check out the products and treatment details on the Jurlique website here.
