It’s a busy time of the year for the fashion lovers here in beautiful Adelaide with the Adelaide Fashion Festival fast approaching and spring racing carnivals hot on its heels. This year Myer is going to be part of the exciting festivities as part of Vogue Festival.

To kick it all off Little Lion PR hosted the Myer Centre Adelaide Style Challenge to rediscover the Myer Centre. The challenge was held in the luxurious Realm Adelaide display suite and saw a selection of Adelaide fashion influences work under a time limit to create 3 styled looks embracing some of the key trends for the season from a selection of pieces picked out from Myer Centre Adelaide retailers.

The fabulous Filip Odzak hosted the event and the judges for the challenge included Robyn Ingerson events manager for Adelaide Fashion Festival, Anna Vlach fashion editor for the Advertiser and Charlotte Chambers the content manager for Clique Magazine. The winning looks will be displayed in a retail activation in the Myer Centre during the Fashion Festival and Myer shoppers will have the opportunity to snap themselves with their favourite looks for a chance to win a Myer voucher.

With my ‘Instagram-husband’ in tow, I took to the racks to put together my chosen looks and with the clock ticking, quickly photographed outfits in the beautiful display. I chose to feature the three trends: Spring Romance, 80’s Revived and Spring Racing.

Spring Romance is one of my favourite trends. It’s all about embracing femininity and romance with soft florals, texture, lace and sheer fabrics, pink and blush tones and pretty details such as bows, beading or embroidery. This vintage pink sheer blouse from Adelaide Vintage was my favourite piece from the night because it is so versatile! I teamed it with a lace skirt from Temt – the embroidered roses amp up the romance and I love clashing red and pink for a little drama. I finished the look with a plum Mon Purse leather bag, which I picked because the ladylike shape complimented the femininity of the blouse. When it comes to the Spring Romance trend, my top tip is to not be afraid to mix textures and play with a tonal colour palette.

My second look was a flashback to the past with 80’s Revived. Think shoulder pads, metallics, velvet, over sized denim, embellishments and band-tees grunge. I feel like I belong in the movie Grease in this outfit! I love the pearl embellishments on the oversized Ally Fashion denim jacket teamed with the grungy band tee. Adelaide Vintage will be your best friend for this trend – this velvet embellished skirt was the perfect vintage find straight from the 80’s and the neck scarf pulls the look together and adds an extra pop of colour!

With Spring Racing around the corner, I thought it would be fitting to style a look for one of the races. I instantly fell in love with this Mossman dress. The detail in the lace speaks for itself so it really does not need much else. I teamed with a headpiece from Myer and baby pink Mon Purse bag because we all know how much I love mixing pink and red!

Keep an eye out for when the activations pop up, and in the meantime you can get ready for the fashion season by checking out Myer Centre Adelaide to find all of these pieces, plus more!
